Access to Trussel Barn
Introduction:
Trussel Barn is a converted 18th and early 20th century barn situated on a south-facing hillside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the market town of Liskeard (1 mile) and Looe (5 miles). Views include rolling hilltops and valleys with a wild-life pond at the foot of the property, behind which meanders the East Looe river.
Two of the five bedrooms on the first floor of the barn have recently been converted to provide Bed & Breakfast accommodation. Both have adjacent private bathrooms.
Public Transport Links:
The main line railway station in Liskeard is 1 mile from the property. The same station provides the Liskeard to Looe shuttle service. The Liskeard to Polperro Western Greyhound bus no 573 operates every 60 minutes during the week and stops at nearby St Keyne (1 mile). Plymouth City Airport is 30 minutes away, and Exeter International Airport is 1 hour away.
Approach to the property and car parking:
At the entrance to the property is an automatic and operated by an electric button clearly marked on a post. The driveway slopes downwards on uneven ground to the house where there is a flat graveled area to the front door. Visitors are invited to unload their car directly in front of the front door and then to park their car in the bays provided. A door code is given to visitors so they may gain access to the property at all times during their stay.
Entrance Hall:
There is a half-step over the threshold into a wide hallway with a tiled floor. Here, you may be greeted by Tamar, the family dog and might catch sight of one or other of the 2 cats that live on the property. There is a WC off this corridor.
Dining Area:
The dining/lounge is a large room with a wood burning fire. It is lit with a mixture of wall and standard lamp lights. The floor is made from natural wood. There are three windows as well as a door leading to the front terrace and garden. There are several sitting areas with sofas and armchairs.
Stairs:
A wide staircase leads to the first floor bedrooms.
The Garden Room:
This is a large bedroom on the first floor and overlooks the front terrace and garden. It is fitted with a wall to wall carpet. There is a ‘superking’ wide bed fitted with high quality percale cotton bedclothes. The duvet is down and feather. Pillows are down feathers. Allergy free pillows and duvet can be provided on request. The bathroom is en-suite. It has a WC, bath and separate rainstorm shower. A grab handle on the wall by the bath may assist the bather to get in and out. There is a step at the entrance to the shower but no grab handle.
The Cyder Room:
At the top of the stairs is a doorway to a private corridor leading to the bathroom and bedroom. Views are of the countryside and the wild life pond. The bedroom has a king size bed fitted with high quality percale cotton bedclothes. The duvet is down and feather. Pillows are down feathers but allergy free pillows and duvet can be provided on request. The bathroom contains a WC, a freestanding bath, (no grab handles) a sink and separate shower cubicle fitted with a rainstorm shower. There is a step up to the shower cubicle (no grab handle).
Meals:
Breakfast is served in the lounge/diner or in the contemporary-style farmhouse kitchen. Special Diets: Please tell us if you have any special dietary requirements and we shall do our best to meet them.
Children:
There is a portable single bed suitable for 1 child and a traveling cot and highchair for a toddler but we request that children share their parents’ bathroom.
Pets:
We regret that as we have a dog and 2 cats at Trussel Barn, other pets cannot be accommodated at the property.
The outside of the property:
We invite visitors to walk around or sit in any area of the garden and surrounding fields belonging to Trussel Barn. There is a flat sun-terrace to the back of the property with table and chairs where many of our guests take morning coffee or evening drinks. A grass slope leads to a lower flat garden where a gate leads to sloping fields. Other seating is provided in the garden. We suggest you bring waterproof boots if you wish to explore the wild pond and river at the foot of the property.
